What I do lies somewhere between being a coach and a therapist, but I think my style is much more relaxed and comfortable than either job title might suggest! With a background working internationally as a designer for theatre, television and film I bring a level of creativity to the way I help people to feel better personally; happier and more fulfilled.
To me weight-loss is more about getting on the scales, its about self esteem and belief.
My starting point is to understand what you really want to achieve and then – together - we can plan a route to where you want to be. I’m an expert at combining the best of Emotional Freedom Technique, Hypnotherapy, and NLP (Nuero-Linguistic Programming) as well as Life Coaching processes, to help you overcome all the limitations preventing you becoming the happy confident person you want to be in your own body.
I have a belt and braces approach to change work. My hypnosis training would tell me that issues are caused when there is a conflict between the subconscious and conscious minds. My emotional freedom technique training would argue that all negativity is caused by a disruption in the energy system. The premise behind other techniques would suggest that all what we resist persists and we attract more of the same to us. Over time, I have learnt that there is truth in all of these, and I feel grateful to be able to utilise all the best bits of each technique to help you get what you want.
The first question I am often asked is, how long will it take for me to get over my issues? The honest answer is I can not tell you at the start, I can tell you however I will help you achieve your desired outcome in the shortest possible time, this saves you both time and money.
Some hypnotists try to force the subconscious mind to change without addressing what is behind the issue. This is the mental equivalent of plastering over the cracks in the walls of a house that is built with a faulty brick in the foundations. I am pretty sure before reading this you have tried to lose weight using will power alone or even sought help from someone else, before returning to your unwanted body shape. The fact is, if the underling emotional issue is not dealt with you will inevitably return to your unwanted habit, behaviour or belief or find another one to replace it.
It is also really important that I state here, I work with you and your problem as YOU CHOOSE to present it. By this I mean, if at any time something comes up that you prefer not to talk about, you dont have to. The emotional baggage we all have does not need to be relived in order to clear it. Your subconscious already knows the origins of your issue. Unlike traditional talk therapies you are not required to recount what you consciously believe is the cause of your issues. By working with your subconscious, we bypass the need to tell the story of your past. In other words you don’t need to reveal things about yourself if you don’t want to, and no, you won’t reveal anything you don’t want to under hypnosis either. I have cured many people of phobias and never known what they were afraid of in the first place. In order for change to happen, I don’t need to know!
I also believe change doesn’t have to be traumatic, Who says you shouldn’t have fun in the therapy room?
I make no claim to be the perfect therapist for everybody, after all, real results can only be achieved if there is a relationship of trust between you and I.
